TEAM NEO, CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA PARTNER TO ATTRACT EUROPEAN BUSINESSES TO NEOHIO AT LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL

CLEVELAND, August 25, 2010 — Team Northeast Ohio (Team NEO) will capitalize on The Cleveland Orchestra’s performance in Lucerne, Switzerland by hosting European companies during the weekend performance on Saturday, August 28, 2010.  The performance at Lucerne’s Konzertsaal is part of the Orchestra’s two-week tour of European summer music festivals.

Team NEO markets the business opportunities in Northeast Ohio to attract new companies and jobs to the region.  Building relationships with business investment decision makers and their advisors provides the opportunity to present the Northeast Ohio story in depth.  The Cleveland Orchestra’s presence in Switzerland will allow the organization to showcase our region’s unique assets for a weekend-long event.  “Being ‘world-class’ means we have many assets that rank among the foremost in the world,” said Thomas A. Waltermire, Team NEO’s CEO.  “To Europeans in particular, our world-class orchestra is proof positive that we are a world-class region.”

The event will include 20 guests representing companies and industry associations from throughout Europe, and provide the opportunity to demonstrate that the Cleveland Plus region is the right place for business expansion in the United States.

“The Cleveland Orchestra is proud to call Northeast Ohio home and to carry our city’s name around the world,” said Gary Hanson, Executive Director for the Cleveland Orchestra. “We’re pleased to partner with Team NEO to help tell European business leaders about our region’s great assets.”

The weekend activities will include a networking reception before the performance and a special visit with Cleveland Orchestra musicians and Austrian-born Music Director, Franz Welser-Möst.  In addition, a dinner after the performance will allow more time to build relationships, as will a closing meeting on Sunday.  The event was organized by Team NEO’s agents in Europe, PM&P Consultants, the international business development consulting firm, operating as “Cleveland Plus Business Europe.”

Team NEO advances Northeast Ohio’s economy by attracting businesses worldwide to the 16-county Cleveland Plus region.  The organization is a joint venture of the region's largest metro chambers of commerce.  Since 2007, the organization has attracted 34 new company expansions or relocations, 3,200 new jobs and $100M in annual payroll to Northeast Ohio, leading to a total annual regional payroll benefit of $260M.
