JACKSON TWP. — An insurance company that specializes in life and supplemental health-insurance products will open a regional office here, and expects to hire about 100 this year.
Liberty National Life Insurance Co., based in Birmingham, Ala., will hold a job fair Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott at 4375 Metro Cir. NW. Liberty has concentrated in the South, said branch manager Mike Rohrer, a Canton native and 1998 GlenOak High School graduate.
“I’m excited to be able to bring these good jobs back to Canton,” Rohrer said.
The commission-based jobs pay up to $80,000. No experience or college degree is necessary, and Liberty will train candidates for the new office at 4942 Higbee Ave. NW.
Most insurance companies hire agents as independent contractors, but “field service consultants” hired here will be employees with benefits. There will be about 85 consultant slots and 10 to 15 unit manager openings.
Consultants design portfolios for people or companies, while unit managers oversee their field training.
The company recently opened two offices in Columbus. The Higbee office will be the first in this area. “Our plan is eventually to spread further north into Cleveland and to Youngstown,” Rohrer said.
