EB5 Program
The US government created the Employment-Based Fifth Preference (EB-5) Regional Center program in 1990 to promote foreign investment and economic growth. Also known as the Immigrant Investor Program, EB-5 gives eligible foreigners the opportunity to become lawful, permanent US residents.
The EB-5 program allows foreigners to obtain two-year conditional US Green Cards by investing a minimum of US $1 million – or US $500,000 if the project is located in a "Targeted Employment Area" (TEA). Cleveland is a TEA zone.
There are several advantages available to immigrants through the EB-5 program. In addition to the opportunity to live in the US at a low cost, foreign investors and their families are entitled to all the benefits available to other US residents immediately upon receipt of a conditional Green Card. Unlike other visa options, the EB-5 Regional Center program does not require participants to speak English or own, operate, or manage a business. The Regional Center is responsible for managing the investment on the EB-5 investor's behalf.
