Team NEO is a private sector-led, nonprofit regional economic development organization formed in 2003. Its mission is to “Attract businesses worldwide to the 16-county Cleveland Plus Region.” The concept for Team NEO emerged in response to the business community’s need for a strategically coordinated economic development agenda that leverages the strengths of Northeast Ohio. Team NEO was established by founding members: Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, Greater Cleveland Partnership, Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber, Stark Development Board, Lorain County Chamber of Commerce and FirstEnergy Corp.

Team NEO currently has a staff of 15, the majority of whom work directly with businesses considering investment in NEOhio. In addition, the Marketing staff creates the strategy and tools for generating interest in NEOhio as a highly desirable business location. The Research staff provides the information and insights required for marketing and for helping individual companies complete their business case. Team NEO’s $3.5 million budget is provided in roughly equal parts by business sources (including the chambers of commerce mentioned above) and foundations. The Fund for our Economic Future, a unique consortium of 80 leading foundations in northeast Ohio, and the Cleveland Foundation are major contributors.
